Posted Date: 12/01/25 (03:30 PM)

Dear Families,
As we begin the first week of December, we are excited to launch our weekly kickoff focused on staying engaged, showing up, and supporting one another as we head into Winter Break. With just three weeks left, every day of learning really counts.
Please help your student by:

  • Encouraging good attendance and on-time arrival
  • Checking in on homework and upcoming projects
  • Reaching out to your school if your child needs any extra support
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.
Together, we can make these last three weeks before Winter Break positive, productive, and memorable for our students!

Help Your Child See All Sides of the Argument: There's usually more than one side to an issue. But it can be hard for kids to see another side when they are convinced their own opinion is correct. Here's a debate game that can help children recognize the pros and cons of any position. To play: 1) Throw out a statement -For example, you might say, 'Homework should be banned forever,' or 'Kids shouldn't have to do chores'. 2) Ask your child to think of all the reasons that support your child's own view on the subject. Then ask for a list of reasons against your child's own position. Discuss the issue as a family. Which views are the most convincing? You can also do this activity in teams. Have one team think of the pros. The other team can think of the cons. Before they share their answers, have the two teams switch sides and see which team came up with the most arguments for either side.

Page:  Winter Driving Tips-Winter driving in our snow-capped mountains can be beautiful—but also challenging. The California Highway Patrol reminds families to be prepared and stay safe on the roads. Winter Driving Reminder: As snow and fog move into our mountain communities, please allow extra travel time, drive slowly, and keep headlights on. Staying alert and prepared helps keep all our students, families, and staff safe on the roads. Before You Go:
Ensure brakes, wipers, defroster, heater, and tires are in good condition. Top off antifreeze and use a winter-safe windshield washer solution.
Always carry tire chains that fit your vehicle and a flashlight. On the Road:
Allow extra time—winter travel is slower, and keep your gas tank full.
Drive slowly, avoid sudden stops, and leave extra space between vehicles.
Watch for icy spots, especially on bridges and in shady areas.
Keep windows clear, and use your defroster to prevent fogging.
If visibility is poor, slow down and look out for snowplows.
If you become stuck, stay with your vehicle and conserve fuel safely.
Helpful extras: ice scraper, small shovel, broom, sand/burlap for traction, towel, water, snacks, warm clothes, and blankets. Chain Requirements:
R1: Chains required; snow-tread tires allowed.
R2: Chains required except for 4WD with snow tires.
R3: Chains required on all vehicles (rare; roads usually close before R3). Staying prepared helps keep all us
mountain families safe this winter!
