Another week brings more special moments from across our schools! In this edition of Rim’s Edge of Excellence, we are excited to share a glimpse of the learning, creativity, accomplishments, activities, and connections happening throughout our District.
From the classroom to the stage, athletic fields, and beyond, these moments tell the story of our students and the people who support them each day. We hope you enjoy seeing and sharing these moments as much as we enjoy capturing and sharing them with you!

Page: From ROWUSD Superintendent, Dr. Paul Sevillano: A Message from the Superintendent: Dear Rim of the World Unified School District Families, 
Today, as we recognize Patriot Day, we pause to remember those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the extraordinary courage and selflessness of the first responders and everyday heroes who came to the aid of others. May we continue to carry forward the spirit of service, unity, and compassion that brought our nation together.
As we carry these values forward and continue the positive momentum for the 2026-2027 school year, I am pleased to share several District updates that reflect our ongoing commitment to student success, safe and welcoming schools, meaningful family and community engagement, and responsible stewardship of District resources. 
In collaboration with our Board of Education, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, District Leadership Team, staff, families, and community partners, ROWUSD has developed its 2026-2027 Strategic Action Plan, establishing ROWUSD's key goals aligned with the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). 
1) Increase Student Learning and Professional Development
2) Safe and Positive Environment
3) Engage Family and Community 
4) Fiscal Accountability 
We are also pleased to report that District enrollment remains stable for the second consecutive year. This is especially encouraging as many districts throughout San Bernardino County and California continue to experience declining enrollment. We appreciate our families for choosing and trusting ROWUSD with their children’s education. 
Family involvement is another important part of building strong schools. This year, ROWUSD implemented a new districtwide online Parent Volunteer and Chaperone Approval Process to create a consistent process across all schools. Families interested in volunteering or chaperoning can begin the approval process here: https://rimsd.k12.ca.us/volunteer
Thank you to our families, teachers, staff, Board of Education, and community partners for your continued support. Together, we will continue moving forward with purpose and creating opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and succeed.

Page: CHE came together in remembrance and gratitude on Patriot Day. Students & staff participated in a meaningful ceremony honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001, & remembering the courageous heroes who gave their lives while helping & protecting others. It was a special opportunity for CHE’s school community to reflect on the values of courage, service, kindness, & unity & to honor the first responders, service members, & everyday heroes who continue to serve our communities. Today, we remember. Today, we honor. & together, we are grateful for our heroes.
Page: VOE preschoolers took a little adventure to the “big school” library! On the walk back, something colorful caught their eyes...a beautiful bulletin board filled with flowers & butterflies! There was plenty to look at & admire along the way. For VOE’s littlest learners, even a walk down the hallway can turn into a wonderful adventure filled with discovery! Two little ones got busy painting, exploring colors, & discovering the magic that happens when colors mix, swirl, & dance together on the paper! Watch out, art world, VOE has some growing artists on the way! A preschooler rolled, squished, flattened, & shaped Play-Doh with rolling pins, turning playtime into a fun-filled lesson in creativity & fine motor skills. One young builder got to work with magnetic blocks, stacking & connecting until a magnificent castle began to appear! From Play-Doh creations to magical castles, there is always something exciting happening with some of ROWUSD’s youngest learners at VOE
Page: Sand Play with TK & Kinder students at ELOP at LAE. Who needs the beach when you have sand, scoops, and BIG imaginations? LAE’s ELOP TK/k students dug right into some sandy fun, scooping, pouring, shaping, & creating their own little masterpieces! Tiny hands were busy exploring as imaginations took over...WITH A LITTLE SAND, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! From digging & building to discovering just how much fun learning through play can be, these little ELOP explorers had a 
“sand-tastically” good time!
Page: Hoppin’ Into Creativity at LAE’s ELOP!! LAE’s ELOP students had a ‘ribbit-ing’ good time creating their very own adorable frog crafts! With creativity leaping around the room, these little frogs were soon ready to hop right into the fun. ‘Toad-ally’ cute,  creative, & full of ELOP smiles!
Page: CHE ELOP students were “O-FISH-ALLY” getting creative! ELOP students learned how to transform simple pieces of paper into colorful paper fish! There was plenty of folding, creating, & imagination swimming around the room as each student brought their own “FIN-TASTIC” fish to life. Who knew a little paper could make ELOP students at CHE “HOOKED” on creativity!
Page: Once upon a time… it was Library Day at CHE! Ms. Miller’s class enjoyed their first trip to the library, where shelves full of stories, adventures, mysteries, and new friends waited to be discovered! Ms. Miller’s class enjoyed their very first trip to the library, where shelves full of stories, adventures, mysteries, and new friends were waiting to be discovered! Who knows where this year's page-turning adventures will take them? CHE’s young learners have been exploring the meaning of the American flag & learning why it's important to honor our country’s heroes. With stars, stripes, & lots of curiosity, students are preparing for Friday’s special remembrance, & to recognize the bravery, courage, & service of the heroes of September 11th. What a meaningful way for CHE young learners to discover heroes come in many forms, & that we can remember them TOGETHER!
Page: Che’s Back to School Night!  CHE welcomed families to campus for a fun evening of getting to know the school and connecting with teachers & staff, while learning more about the many programs & resources available to support their students & families throughout the year. What a FUN Night at CHE!! It looks like CHE already has a little extra help keeping everyone safe! One student got dressed head-to-toe in firefighter gear and was ready for duty! With this pint-sized first responder on patrol on site, CHE was in very good hands!
Page: Tater-Tot Adventures at CHE! Who knew a potato could be this much fun?  CHE’s TK/Kinder learners had a spud-tacular time playing & learning with Potato Head!
With silly eyes, wiggly ears, funny noses, & plenty of giggles, our littlest learners used their imaginations to create some one-of-a-kind potato personalities! Lots of Fun times! Hands in the air if you’re ready for a reading adventure! CHE Librarian Ms. Harp welcomed kiddos back to the library, & judging by all those excited hands in the air, they were more than ready! The first library day was filled with smiles, excitement, & plenty of eager readers ready to discover what was waiting on the shelves. New school year, new books, new stories, and new adventures await...because at CHE, a little library card can open the door to a VERY big world!
Page: VOE’s TK Class. A Masterpiece As Unique As ME!! A Masterpiece As Unique As ME!! From colorful faces to silly yarn hairstyles, every creation had its ‘own’ personality! The best part? There was no “right” way to make a portrait. Why? Because being yourself is what makes each masterpiece perfect!
Page: MPH sixth graders kicked off their year with a first-day assembly filled with some new faces, important information, and plenty of excitement!  This will be their last year at MPH. From learning the ins and outs of campus life to discovering what lies ahead, these students were all ears as they began their newest adventure. There’s a lot to take in during sixth grade, but these future high school students are already soaking it all up, one experience, one lesson, and one memory at a time! No time machine needed!  MPH sixth graders are traveling through history right from their Social Science classroom! With curious minds at work, students are exploring the people, places, cultures, and events that helped shape our world.
Page: The doors were open, and the classrooms were buzzing at MPH’s Back to School Night! Families had the opportunity to step into their students’ classrooms, meet teachers, & get a glimpse into their child’s learning & experiences ahead for this school year. Teachers welcomed families and shared important announcements, classroom expectations, and helpful information, while parents had the opportunity to ask questions and make connections. It was a great evening of meeting, greeting, learning, and building strong school-family partnerships! Thank you to our MPH families and staff for making Back to School Night such a fun and successful evening!
Page: MHS Teamwork + Math = Success! 
MHS students put their heads together to tackle math problems, share ideas, & help one another find solutions. Who knew numbers could be better with a little teamwork? MHS students explored a real-world topic in Life Skills studies, learning about ‘substances’ & how choices can affect health, goals, & the future. Building knowledge & making informed decisions are important skills both inside & outside the classroom! Creativity was flowing at MHS! Students combined art with a lesson in emotional regulation, exploring positive ways to understand & express feelings. A little color, a little creativity, & some great life skills made for one meaningful class!
Page: Learning, Collaborating & Problem-Solving at Mountain High! MHS students are putting their AVID strategies into action during math class! Through collaboration, critical thinking, & working together to solve problems, students are strengthening both their math skills & the strategies that help them become successful learners.It’s great to see our Mountain High students thinking, sharing, and learning together—because sometimes the best solutions come through teamwork!
Page: Mountain High School. MHS students just can’t get enough of math! These hardworking learners are tackling algebra together, supporting one another, sharing ideas, and building their skills one equation at a time. It’s great to see students encouraging their classmates & discovering that sometimes the best way to come out strong is to learn together!
Page: Something magical is brewing on the Rim High stage! Rim High Theatre & Troupe 145 recently held auditions for their fall production of 
“Camelot and Camelittle!” The stage is getting ready for knights, laughter, adventure, & plenty of theatrical FUN! Even more exciting, our elementary students will be invited to experience the magic of live theatre & join in the FUN later in Fall! Get ready, little lords & ladies...Camelot will be calling soon!
Page: RHS Media Arts & Entertainment film crew wastes no time getting behind the camera! Lights, camera, action! Students have jumped right into the action, capturing some of the exciting moments happening around RHS, from Friday night football & the fall assembly to a toe-tapping Jazz MasterClass. With cameras rolling & creativity flowing, these talented students aren’t just watching the action; they’re learning how to tell stories through their own lens!
Page: Rim High School musicians are making music together! On August 26, students & community members could attend a MasterClass with the Carl Verheyen Band at the RHS Performing Arts Center. The event was open to all, and alumni were encouraged to come back & join in this awesome experience! on August 27, the music continued as the Blue Jay Jazz Festival kicked off at the ALA Tavern Bay Beach Club. Rim High’s talented Future Generation Jazz Scholars took to the stage to perform & showcase their talents, with learning & performing alongside very  accomplished musicians for the community,
Page: A big congratulations to Rim High School for their outstanding Athletes of the Month! Brynn and Eli have demonstrated dedication, hard work, & commitment to their teams both on & off the court & field. We are proud to recognize these talented student-athletes & we celebrate their achievements! Eli Stiansen (Football), Brynn Bagnell (Volleyball)
Page: RHS girls’ volleyball. Aloha from Honolulu! RHS Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Team has taken its talents across the Pacific! The team is currently in Honolulu, Hawaii, competing in a volleyball tournament at Pearl City High School through Saturday. What an exciting opportunity for our student-athletes to represent RHS while building team memories!  Good Luck...We are cheering you all the way from the mountains to the islands!
Page: Girls Flag Football had a strong showing, with Varsity earning wins over Carter (12-0) & Bloomington (36-18), while JV battled hard against both teams. Girls Volleyball saw JV pick up a 2-0 win over Arrowhead Christian! RHS  teams won the “Queen of the Mountain” title, with Varsity winning 3-0,  JV winning 2-1, &
 Freshmen winning 2-0 against Big Bear on August 28th! This past Monday, all 3 levels defeated Eisenhower HS...Go Scots Volleyball Team! RHS Girls Tennis team competed against Sultana HS with a Victory of 13-5 on Friday, August 28th!
Page: RVA’s “Meet the Master” Event. RVA students traded their virtual classrooms for an artist’s studio during a special “Meet the Master” event featuring the legendary Vincent van Gogh! They explored Van Gogh’s famous artwork, learned about his unique style, and discovered how he used colors & brushstrokes to bring his paintings to life! RVA artists rolled up their sleeves and created some masterpieces of their own! From studying a master to becoming artists themselves, RVA students proved that creativity is always in style. Van Gogh would be proud
